Are you considering Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery?

13

There are many different reasons why people consider cosmetic surgery.  Whether to keep a more youthful appearance, bring more balance to their features, remove excess fat or tighten up loose skin, the decision is a very personal one.  A major key and one of the most important steps in the decision-making process is finding the right surgeon.  The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery offers these guidelines to help you make an informed choice.

  • Check the surgical experience of the surgeon you are considering.
  • Does the surgeon specialize in cosmetic surgery or is it only a small part of their practice?  Often surgeons who advertise themselves as cosmetic surgeons are actually specialists in other fields but wish to emphasize or build a cosmetic surgery practice.
  • How many procedures of this kind has the surgeon performed, and for how long has he/she been doing them?
  • How many is the doctor currently performing per year?
  • Before-and-after photographs can give you some indication of the surgeon’s ability, although you must realize that they cannot be construed as a guaranteed result for you. Each patient is different and results vary.  So remember, while they can be helpful, a few great pictures can be misleading.
  • Make sure you are comfortable with the personal rapport between you and your surgeon. In addition, you should also feel at ease with the staff.  Any concerns should be addressed in a prompt and considerate manner.  Patients should never settle for an incomplete answer.

Privacy, of course, is of paramount concern for those considering cosmetic surgery.  At Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgical Center we are dedicated to insuring the privacy of each and every patient.   The staff’s warm and caring attitude coupled with their knowledge and experience, enhances our patients’ overall surgical journey.  We love our patients, treat them like family, and it shows!

The consultation is actually just as important as the surgery.  During your consultation, Dr. Tobin will fully explain the surgery and recovery in a way that is easy to understand.  He will also make you fully aware of all options and the risks involved.  He takes as much time as needed to answer your questions and never makes a patient feel rushed.

Cosmetic surgery is a field of medicine where experience counts and that is an area where the Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgical Center really stands out from the rest.  Along with Dr. Tobin’s 40+ years of experience, his staff, combined, boasts over 90 years experience exclusively in this field! This amount of experience concentrated in one facility is especially important today.  With a growing trend toward non-invasive medical treatments, many younger doctors and staff may have limited experience in the more complex surgical procedures that still form the basis of our practice.

In addition to the Surgical Center, the facility also has two guest suites available for overnight recovery.  These exclusive accommodations give patients traveling from out of town the added comfort and convenience of spending the night after surgery onsite rather than in a hotel.
